Objectives:
The primary objectives of Concordia 2025 were to provide diverse platforms for student expression and innovation. This included offering a creative outlet for students to capture and express their unique perspectives through the art of photography in the Rawscape competition. The Retroove event aimed to celebrate creativity and nostalgia, encouraging participants to reinterpret classic retro songs with modern choreography and fresh energy. Rollout was designed to offer a platform for students to showcase their innovative thinking by presenting feasible business ideas that could address real-world challenges. Finally, Resonaire sought to provide a stage for students to demonstrate their vocal talent, creativity, and passion for music in alignment with the “Playback” theme.
Concordia 2025, the 8th edition of the flagship national media fest organized by the School of Communications, XIM University, featured a series of events spanning two days.
The fest commenced on October 15th, 2025, with Reckoning, the official E-Sports competition, which was held entirely online and powered by Unstop. The competition featured the popular mobile game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) and saw a massive turnout of 133 participants. To manage the event, the organizing team purchased and distributed custom “Room Cards” to create private, competitive lobbies. The tournament ran smoothly from its 2:00 PM start, concluding all matches as scheduled by 5:00 PM.
● Winners: Team Endeavour eSports who won a prize money of ₹8,000 along with T-Shirts and Goodies.
● Runner Up: Team L8RD ESPORTS who won a prize money of ₹3,000 along with T-Shirts and Goodies.
The main on-campus events were held on October 16th, 2025. The day’s events began at 10:40 AM with Resonaire, the singing competition, in the School of Communications AV Studio. The event, themed ‘Playback’ , commenced with a heartfelt felicitation of the esteemed judges, Mr. Subhra Sourav Behra and Mr. Saumya Prakash Mishra, by Mr. Rati Ram Khaka and Mr. Arabind Barikh. The event was organized by Coordinator Subhoshree Biswas and Deputy Coordinator Shreeja Kundu , confidently anchored by Eshaa Dash , and supported technically by Soumitra Arya and Spandan Nayak.
● Winners (School Level): The first position was secured by Samarth Saurav Panda who won a prize money of ₹4,000,
Second position was secured by Sia Rath with a prize money of ₹2,000
And the third position was secured by Pratyasha Biswal with a prize money of ₹1,000.
● Winners (University Level): 1st position: Prateek Mishra with a prize money of ₹4,000 , 2nd position: Shaurya Amit with a prize money of ₹2,000,
3rd position: Dipti Ranjan Sahoo with a prize money of ₹1,000.
Simultaneously, the Rollout business pitch idea competition began at 10:45 AM in CR-13. This event provided a platform for students to present feasible business ideas and saw enthusiastic participation from 35-40 students. The judging panel consisted of professionals Mr. Ankit Amrit Das and Ms. Sucheta Mishra. The event was anchored by Coordinator Ms. Archi Mishra and Deputy Coordinator Ms. Pallavi Tata.
● Winners- 1st position: Jaydev Rout and Team with a prize money of ₹4,000,
2nd position: Saswat Biswal with a prize money of ₹2,000,
3rd position: Sagnik Pramanik and Pushpak Paul with a prize money of ₹1,000.
Also starting at 10:45 AM, the briefing for Rawscape, the photography competition, took place in CR-14. Participants were briefed on the theme, ‘Voice of the Lens’ by Coordinator Mr. Sourja Dutta and Deputy Coordinator Mr. Pranyam Kumar Bhol. From 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, over 90 participants from various schools and colleges captured photographs within the XIM University, New Campus premises. The entries were later evaluated by Mr. Saswat Pati, the Founder of Lenscape.
● Winners (School Level): 1st position: Harish Subudhi with a prize money of ₹4,000,
2nd position: Ruchi Kanhar with a prize money of ₹2,000 ,
3rd position: Akash Chatterjee with a prize money of ₹1,000.
● Winners (University Level): 1st position: Abhay Banjara with a prize money of ₹4,000, 2nd position: Hardik Harpreet Swain with a prize money of ₹2,000 ,
3rd position: Arijit Sahoo with a prize money of ₹1,000.
The Mini Auditorium came alive around 11:00 AM with Retroove 2025, the dance competition. The theme, ‘Retro Re-Invented’ , encouraged participants to blend old-world charm with modern choreography. With around 100 participants, the competition was divided into school and university categories. The event was graced by esteemed judges Ms. Padmini Pattnaik and Mrs. Sonal Acharya. The show was anchored by Ms. Jasmine Nayak followed by Ms. Vaisnoee Mohanty, and meticulously managed by Coordinator Ms. Tanisha Mukherjee, Deputy Coordinator Ms. Avishi Jain , and Mr. Surya Prasad Nayak, who handled the technical aspect of playing the songs.
● Winners (School Level): 1st position: BJEM Group with a prize money of ₹4,000 ,
2nd position: Shivani’s Group from AAA School with a prize money of ₹2,000 ,
3rd position: Sneha Sahoo from AAA School with a prize money of ₹1,000.
● Winners (University Level): 1st position: Ensemble Crew from KIIT University with a prize money of ₹4,000 ,
2nd position: Tanisha Pattnaik from KIIT University with a prize money of ₹2,000, 3rd position: Do-U Crew from KIIT University with a prize money of ₹1,000.
Overall Winner: KIIT University was declared the overall winner, receiving a prize of ₹10,000.
All competitions concluded by their scheduled times, leading up to the final Valedictory Session and Prize Distribution Ceremony for all winners. The Valedictory Ceremony of Concordia 2025 marked the grand conclusion of the two-day national media fest. The ceremony celebrated creativity, collaboration, and competitive spirit, while also acknowledging the outstanding talent showcased throughout the event. The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the spirit of knowledge and enlightenment.

Although Fr. V. Arokiyadas, SJ, Chief Finance Officer of XIM University and the designated Chief Guest of the ceremony, could not be physically present due to unavoidable commitments, his contribution and support were respectfully acknowledged during the event. His message of encouragement for the student community was conveyed to the audience.
Concordia 2025 and the School of Communications was honoured by the presence of the Guest of Honour, Shri Kali Prasanna Mohapatra, IAS, Director of Higher Education, Government of Odisha, who graced the ceremony and addressed the gathering with inspiring words on youth leadership and innovation.

Following the formal session and addresses by the dignitaries, the Prize Distribution Ceremony was conducted to felicitate the winners of all competitive events held during Concordia 2025. Winners from events including Reckoning (E-Sports), RawScape (Photography), Rollout (Business Pitch), Resonaire (Singing), and Retroove (Dance) were awarded during this ceremony.
The evening concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Prof. Nirmalya Baral, acknowledging the efforts of the organizing team, faculty, student volunteers, participants, sponsors, and XIM University management. The ceremony ended on a note of pride and celebration as the Overall Trophy was presented, marking the successful completion of the 8th edition of Concordia.
Outcomes/Takeaways:
1. Broad Showcase of Student Talent: The fest proved to be a highly successful and competitive platform , effectively celebrating creativity, innovation, and the spirit of learning across multiple disciplines. It successfully highlighted the immense talent and unique perspectives of students from various schools and institutions across Odisha.
2. Embracing Both Traditional and Modern Media: Concordia 2025 celebrated a wide spectrum of artistic expression. It not only highlighted traditional arts like photography , dance , and music but also successfully brought the high-octane energy of competitive gaming to the fest.
3. Demonstrated Demand for E-Sports: The “Reckoning” e-sports event was a major success, drawing a massive turnout of 133 participants. This turnout highlights the strong enthusiasm and growing demand for e-sports events within the student community.
4.Bridging Generations Through Creativity: The “Retroove” dance event powerfully demonstrated how creativity can bridge generations. By blending nostalgia with fresh interpretations, it reminded attendees that the charm of the retro era lives on through the passion and imagination of today’s performers.
5. Valuable Interaction with Professionals: Participants in events like Rawscape and Rollout benefited from the presence of esteemed judges who are professionals in their fields. Their insightful feedback and professional observations enriched the experience, providing valuable learning opportunities beyond the competition itself.
