2021-2022

CONCORDIA 2022– SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS MEDIA FEST

Concordia 2022, a National Students Media Fest, was a platform for students from across India to come together and showcase their talents in various fields. The fest was a celebration of creativity and innovation, aimed at breaking down barriers and bringing people closer together through healthy and ethical competition. The event was sponsored by Jindal Stainless, Eco Belleza – The Salon, Imperial Investors, and powered by R39. It was held on 19th October 2022 in offline mode at the School of Communications, XIM University. More than 40 institutions participated, with over 300 registered players taking part in various competitions.

 

The competitions included CODM Extreme Masters, Re-Joys, Photographia, Aaroha, and Forever & After. These events provided a platform for students to showcase their skills in e-sports, painting, photography, singing, and dance. The fest was inaugurated by Prof. V. Vijay Kumar, Dean, School of Communications, and the inaugural address was delivered by Prof. Arun Kumar Paul, Dean (Acting), Xavier Emlyon Business School. The valedictory ceremony saw a dance and musical ensemble by the School of Communications students, and was graced by special invitees including Mr. Manoranjan Mishra, News Editor, Kanak News, Mr. Narendra Jena, Editor, News 18 Odia, Ms. Smriti Sweta Das, Managing Director, Eco Belleza – The Salon, and Mr. Shashibhushan Upadhyay, Director, Jindal Stainless, Bhubaneshwar.

The fest provided an opportunity for students to learn new skills and explore their innate talents. It sought to bring professionals and students together on a common stage and foster a sense of unity through healthy competition. Overall, Concordia 2022 was a grand success, showcasing the talent and creativity of the next generation of students in India.

2020-2021

CONCORDIA 2021– SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS MEDIA FEST

Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the School of Communications at XIM University successfully organized Concordia 2021, a virtual student fest powered by Eco Belleza – The Salon and beverage partner Red Bull on October 9, 2021. The event aimed to bring together students from across the country to participate in various competitions and develop their skills. The fest comprised of 10 competitions covering diverse genres such as writing, logo designing, music, advertising, reel making, dance, PC gaming, parody filming, debate, and photography. Prof. V. Vijay Kumar, Dean, School of Communications, extended a warm welcome to all the participants. The inaugural address was given by the Chief Finance Officer Fr. V. Arokiyadass, SJ. The competitions were held post the inaugural session, and the Valedictory Ceremony was held in the evening. The fest provided students from higher secondary school and undergraduate colleges with an opportunity to showcase their talent and participate in cultural and competitive events. 

2019-20

CONCORDIA 2019 – SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS MEDIA FEST

The School of Communications of XIM University hosted inter-school talent and quiz competitions on November 8, 2019 under the title ‘Concordia’- School of Communications Media Fest 2019 at XIM University campus.

The Dean of the School of Communications, Fr Donald D’Silva, SJ extended a warm welcome to all the young participants who represented their schools wished them good luck with a belief that all the teams selected for the final rounds would give a tough competition to each other keeping true spirit of competition.

The aim of conducting Media Fest was to bring together the Plus Two level students of Eastern Region of India to promote talent and creativity among students. Through “Concordia” – School of Communications Media Fest 2019, University is trying to encourage students to give a break from their busy academic schedule and invest their energy on expressing themselves in the areas that matter them most.

The Quiz master for the day was Mr Bivash Rath Attreya, a member of Odisha Quiz Club, conducted the event efficiently.  Since there was overwhelming response for the event, organizers had to conduct elimination round to take a call on six finalists for the event

At the valedictory function, the Vice-Chancellor Dr. Fr. Antony Uvari, S.J., extolled  the  efforts  of  the  faculty and students of the School of Communications  for their efforts in organizing the event successfully by bringing the young minds to the University campus and creating an opportunity for them to interact and learn from each other. He welcomed the young students to pursue their higher education in the XIM University and become men and women for others with a moto of Inspiring Futures and doing more.

The Chief Guest for the event Shri Shashi Bhushan Upadhyay, Director, Jindal Stainless Steel Limited, Bhubaneswar addressing the gathering urged the students to keep their eyes and ears open with regard to fast changing social life, and plan their future with great care and caution.  

The event was witnessed by XIM University students, teachers and guardians of the participants and invited guests.

About 120 students from various Inter Schools participated in the events such as Photography, Drawing, Poetry Writing, Caption Writing and Quiz Competitions. Theme based competitions helped them to bring out the best of their imagination and creativity. The quiz topics covered general knowledge, sports, politics, prominent personalities, literature and media.

Winning teams of Quiz received a maximum of cash prize of Rs 15,000/- Rs. 12,000/- and Rs 9,000/- along with winner’s certificate. The winners other categories in the competition received a sum of Rs 5000/- each.

Every bit of the quiz and other competitions were exiting not only to the contestants but also to the audience. It was indeed an enriching experience for the audience thereby providing an ample scope of learning and exploration of new ideas, facts and knowledge for the participants. The event was anchored by Ms Anam and Ms Priyanka Das, students of BSc Mass Communication under the able guidance of Prof. Nirmalya Baral and his team. The event was witnessed by XIM University students, teachers and guardians of the participants and invited guests.

2018-19

“CONCORDIA” SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS QUIZ 2018

School of Communications, XIM University hosted its maiden Quiz Competition on December 01, 2018 at XIM University Campus. Thirteen teams from Higher Secondary Schools and Eleven teams from colleges participated in the event.

The event started with a welcome address by the academic coordinator Dr. Vijay Kumar Vijayan followed by an introduction by the Dean of School of Communications Fr. Donald D’Silva, SJ at Mini Auditorium, New Campus. After the elimination round Mr Bivash Rath Attreya, the Quiz master for the day, a member of Odisha Quiz Club, along with his associates Mr. Abhijit Mohanty and Mr. Sanket Tripathy conducted the competition with utmost professionalism and fairness.

At the valedictory function, the EX-Vice Chancellor,XIM university Prof. Dr. Fr. Paul Fernandes, S.J., extolled the efforts of the faculty and students of School of Communications for their efforts in organizing the event successfully by bringing the young minds to the University campus and creating an opportunity for them to interact and learn from each other.

Winners of the ‘Concordia’ – School of Communications Quiz 2018 were honored with prize money, memento and certificate. In the plus two category winners were Satyajeet Rout & Abhishek Rath from DAV Public School, Unit -8, Bhubaneswar, and under college category winners were Piyush Kedia & Baibhab Pattnaik from IIT, Kharagpur.
